Step Up
Ministry
House
This one bedroom home
on Tracy has been
purchased as a step-up
home for one of our
clients in the Ministry
House. Most of the
renovations are complete,
except for the completing
the siding.
Adopt A Home Program:
We currently own and operate a duplex on South Topeka a two bedroom home on South Main,
and another one bedroom home in West Wichita. Each unit houses gentlemen that were
previously living on the street, and the front of the duplex now houses our first lady client. We
began this ministry in November of 2006 when one homeless individual was "evicted" from the
park so the City could put up Holiday decorations. This individual, living on a fixed disability
income from his service in the Air Force has graduated to his own rental home in West Wichita
where the Ministry only helps with his utilities.
Another gentleman is now staying in the back half of the S. Topeka duplex. He is also a veteran
on a fixed income and will remain until he can receive a voucher for HUD housing. (HUD is not
taking applications, and it may be 3-5 years)
We are prayerfully seeking funding assistance from local churches and business leaders to
provide winter shelter, or to adopt a home of their own. We would offer help and assistance
with setting up and managing this program. A loving and caring church adoptive family is a
major step for these individuals to return to a normal healthy life.
